The White Stripes have announced that their 6th studio album has been completed and will be released to the masses in the near future along with some tour date announcements. Actually the official statement on their website says that the band “will be releasing a statement soon" that says "we are doing our best (whatever that is) to release the album as soon as corporately possible. And though we are tired, worn, weary, hungry, cold and left without an ounce of nutrition amongst ourselves, we are in the midst of planning performance type shows around the world.” Oh, the albums title is “Icky Thump” which I suppose you can name your album if you’re The White Stripes.
Apparently people do actually want to see the Police –no not the pigs who have a warrant out for your arrest—the band. Sting and Co. (which really isn’t fair of me to label them that is it?) recently sold out their tour in quick fashion and have added 10 new dates. The tour is as follows:

And lastly, as I reported in my previous article “New News…News” (Feb 6) Apple CEO Steve Jobs has called on the music industry to end DRM restrictions. Well, this past weekend, as reported by News.com, roughly 200 music industry types met in NYC for the Digital Music Forum East conference. They discussed among other things what a greedy dope Jobs is and the fact that music sales have fallen almost 25% in the last six years. What didn’t occur to them is that the music the industry puts out now is terrible and maybe that’s why nobody will buy it. Well and also it’s really, really easy to find it for free.
