The main purpose of this website is for music lovers to express a particular experience and/or memory connected to a song of their choice.

There is Myspace Music, there is Facebook, there is Imeem, and now...there is Musicbrick. After catching up with the man behind the clever business, Martin Beattie, a painter/decorator from Liverpool, he explains that the goal of Musicbrick is to build the tallest structure in the world, utilizing the undeniable power and significance of music.

How Musicbrick Works

The site allows members to express distinct connections he/she has with different songs. They can do so anonymously or they can expand upon a profile that is similar to that of other networking sites. In addition to highlighting one's personal experience, one can link a video and/or image along with it. Primarily made up of 75% users from the United Kingdom, the uneven distribution is something that Beattie explains he wishes to improve upon by expanding the network of Musicbricks, globally.

Musicbrick will challenge our view and perception of music by providing a platform for people around the world to share a personal choice of music and explain how it impacted their life. Each new experience submitted will form one music brick. These experiences are then permanently fixed into their exclusive position in the music wall.

The website also caters to new artists/bands to showcase their talent while expressing their own special connection to influential tracks. Part of this hard to resist publicity features a chance to be reviewed and played on a United Kingdom radio show, “The Wall of Sound." This show is hosted every Tuesday and Sunday by Phil Thorne, also a devoted member of Musicbrick. In addition, Musicbrick chooses an “Artist of the Month” who is highlighted on the home page and in the monthly newsletter.

The Business of Musicbrick

Among many ideas to amplify Musicbrick's staying power, Beattie, would like to begin a P.O. box in which users without computer technology can forward their particular memory/story and it will be added to the Musicbrick wall. Musicbrick.com is in the process of seeking funding to expand and develop its product globally.

The company has also partnered with Amazon.co.uk and Itunes to enable the purchase of music through the Musicbrick website. Buying music through Musicbrick supports the growth and expansion of the website. When asked of other endeavors regarding his business, Beattie tells us that he would like to see Musicbrick become an actual 3D structure and finding an architect to design such an extraordinary skyscraper is another challenge in itself!

The Defining Difference of Musicbrick vs. MySpace

One may be wondering what makes Musicbrick so different from Myspace Music or Imeem. In regards to this defining difference, Beattie states, “There is a huge niche going unheard; Us, the most important people of all, the people who bought, lived and breathed the music in the first place and that’s where we are so different. It’s very simple, every song ever recorded means something to someone around the world."
